Supercharged Lincoln Town Car, A 740-HP Dodge Viper Convertible, And Manual Heaven In This Week's Car Buying Roundup
A collection of our best posts of the week in car buying
Speed is relative. Some people think taking 6 seconds to hit 60 mph is fast, and others will scoff at anything that takes more than half that time to reach the 60-mph mark. Learning about the quickest cars on the market is an easy task, with tons lists published online (including by us) ready to answer the burning question asked by all the teenagers of the world. Meanwhile, I’m here for the weirdo teenagers (and weirdos of all ages) who want to know about the slowest cars available for sale today. - Logan Carter Read More
Toyota just redesigned its best-selling Camry, but even the newest Camry doesn’t provide the level of luxury and refinement that its platform mate the Lexus ES 350 offers. If you’re looking at leasing a new Camry, Lexus is currently offering its tarted up Camry for a better price than a Camry XLE. This particular pricing situation is uncommon, but since the Toyota Camry was redesigned for the 2025 model year, Toyota isn’t offering great discounts on its brand new car just yet. Lower 2025 Camry trims are still more affordable than a Lexus ES 350, but a top-trim 2025 Toyota Camry XLE lease is currently more expensive than a 2024 Lexus ES 350 FWD. - Logan Carter Read More
Lincoln has a reputation for producing cars that appeal to an older crowd, and the Town Car was the brand’s last “traditional” large rear wheel drive American sedan. This particular 2006 Lincoln Town Car on Cars And Bids has a few aftermarket modifications that nudge it from a blue haired barge to a total sleeper that can ferry the family around. This Town Car’s list of modifications is extensive, with the biggest shocker being the Vortech V-3 supercharger kit. All the modifications add up to nearly double the car’s original horsepower numbers, and a thoroughly beefed up driveline should keep things running smoothly. - Logan Carter Read More
The seller of today’s Nice Price or No Dice 360 says prices on the cars are all over the map, and that, coincidentally, this one has moved all over the map, having lived in three different states. Let’s see if we can map out what it might reasonably be worth. - Rob Emslie Read More
Scott’s teenage daughter will be driving soon and she will take his Volvo, which means he can finally get a manual transmission car after years of automatics. He has a modest budget, but is open to options that are sporty with reasonable mpgs. What car should he buy? - Tom McParland Read More
Today’s Nice Price or No Dice Mustang is a model that Ford intended could compete with BMW’s E30. This one has been breathed upon, so it might still be able to keep up with the pack. Let’s decide if it’s worth finding out. - Rob Emslie Read More
You’re ready for summer, aren’t you? Not quite yet, because you don’t have this totally buck-ass wild Dodge Viper convertible in your garage. If you had to make a list of all the things you wanted for a perfect summer, surely it would include a 740-horsepower naturally-aspirated 8.3-liter V10 engine, a manual transmission, a convertible top, 345 section-width rear tires, a salvage title, and an increased chance of not living to see autumn. This car, currently on eBay, delivers all of these and more, for just under fifty grand! A bargain at twice the price, I tell you! - Bradley Brownell Read More
This all-white wonder you’re looking at here is the second-most rare variant that Porsche has ever built. While it looks like any other 911 to the layperson, this is a motorsport-division-built rally racer from 1984. With some extreme weight savings tricks, the engineers managed to get this thing down to just 2,160 pounds, nearly 600 pounds lighter than a standard 911 of the time. Power was bumped from the 207 ponies in a street Carrera 3.2 to 280-ish for the SC/RS’ 3-liter. Light weight and more power to boot? It’s a potent rally machine. I’ve been feeling pretty down in the dumps lately, but if I bought this, I might create enough dopamine to be happy again. At least for a little while. - Bradley Brownell Read More
This week’s reader is looking for a fun ride to liven up the commute to work.
With its raised suspension and roof-top tent, today’s Nice Price or No Dice F-250 is literally three stories tall. It can be had without the camper for half the cost, but as is always the case with big trucks, we want to see what it’s worth to go whole hog. - Rob Emslie Read More
