If you think about it, it's pretty clear that they don't make supercars for the hardcore fanatics. What the companies responsible for creating our dreamcars have in mind today are Chinese millionaires, Russian playboys, and some emission, noise and pedestrian safety regulations. Maybe some retired dentists as well.

On Saturday night I was due to be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Ball. Oh how excited I was! However, by 7:00 pm I was lying flat on a spinal board with women plucking straw and glass from my noon.

Whoops. Driving a Gumpert Apollo is no picnic, as BTCC driver (and former cage fighter) Tony Gilham found out this past Saturday at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, when he slid one into the hay during a hillclimb attempt. Gilham's ok, as is his passenger, who spent some time at a local hospital.

Gumpert has announced they will premiere two new versions of their always insane Apollo at this week's Geneva Motor Show—an 860 horsepower Apollo R and the Apollo Enraged. We believe this is a picture of the latter version being unloaded at the Palexpo in Geneva.

Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil was apparently behind the wheel of this Gumpert Apollo when it took the route less traveled around part of the Nürburgring. Yep, carbon fiber crash protection system works. Hat tip to Kozak & Kai!

A young German man wrecked a Gumpert Apollo along a highway near Brokdorf, Germany while maneuvering around a slow corner at high speeds, causing the car to skid into a pasture. The 700-hp supercar was stripped of much of its carbon fiber body, leaving on the passenger compartment intact.

Perhaps all of those asides made about the Gumpert Apollo's appearance in relation to the new Gumpert Tornante finally got to it, as this weekend a modified 800-hp Apollo hit Monza with one question: who you callin' ugly?

A tractor-trailer delivering three supercars to a dealership in Long Island crashed early this morning on a New York state parkway. The truck's contents? Two Porsche 911s and one rare Gumpert Apollo I was supposed to drive yesterday.

The truly mean Gumpert Apollo Sport has powered its way to a Nürburgring lap time of 7:11.57, simultaneously setting the fastest lap for a production road-legal car and embarrassing the competition.
