Will Americans Ever Embrace Formula One?

Our first attempt at a pro-con QOTD was a success, so we're going to open the floor for debate again today. Instead of a specific current issue, though, let's talk about something that's more a standing concern: Are Americans going to ever truly embrace Formula One?

We do not lack for compelling racing within our national borders, but Formula One remains the sport's understood pinnacle. Even with a USGP back on the schedule this year and another one to be added next year, though, there remains substantial concern about how much interest the series will attract. Given the absence of homegrown identities in F1 and the generally troubled state of open-wheel racing in America, can the World Driving Championship stake an abiding claim in the American sports market?
