The SSC Ultimate Aero II, which you saw exclusively first on Jalopnik, is aiming for a Bugatti-besting top speed of 275 mph with the help of a 6.8-liter twin-turbo V8 according to Top Gear.
Thanks to a friendly young Bulgarian woman we were able to show you the first pics of the car Shelby SuperCars hopes will earn the world's fastest production car record back from the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which hit a 268 mph top speed earlier this year.
The new Aero II improves on the SSC Ultimate Aero TT in nearly every way — for comparison the new issue of Top Gear has a drive of the awesome original faster car. In addition to the exciting new Castriota-penned body, the car's getting a major performance upgrade it'll need to squash some bugs.
According to Top Gear, via tipster Mikeado, the new Ultimate Aero II will sport a twin-turbo 6.8-liter V8 with a 9.0:1 compression ratio good for 1,350-hp with a 9,000 rpm redline. With a weight of approximately 2,600 pounds SSC thinks it'll hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and an as-of-yet unbelievable 275 mph top speed. This car is still in the development stage, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt until they let us drive it.
In the mean time, check out the latest issue of Top Gear for the full info.
