Astrology is the study of movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world, but not everyone believes in its efficacy. The zodiac breaks the year up into 12 different sections, each around four weeks long, and each named after a constellation of stars. According to Time Magazine, it’s believed that the Ancient Greeks considered the first day of spring to occur when the sun appeared in the constellation Aries, and then all other zodiac signs were marked from that time forward at 30-degree intervals. The time, date, and location of ones birth determines their astrological chart, though the date of birth is the only factor that determines ones zodiac sign.
If you believe in astrology, the time you’re born, and thus your zodiac sign, is said to determine some of your personality traits. According to Vogue India, Aries are competitive but insecure, Taurus are loyal but stubborn, Gemini are versatile but impatient, Cancer are passionate but uncommunicative, Leo are confident but dominating, Virgo are perfectionists but self-critical, Libra are empathetic but indecisive, Scorpio are intense but secretive, Sagittarius are spontaneous but flighty, Capricorn — like this author — are goal-oriented but unforgiving, Aquarius are philosophical but detached, and Pisces are whimsical but over-sensitive.
