Mystery EV Testing On The 'Ring Is An Unseen Startup Chinese Supercar

Yesterday this video popped up, showing a ‘mystery EV’ tearing across the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife, completely undisguised but utterly unrecognized. A little digging and I’ve pinned down what it is.

You’re looking at the creation of Next EV, a Chinese electric car startup known for poaching a CEO from Cisco and running a car in Formula E. We reported about these guys last year.

This unnamed supercar of theirs has been spotted before in testing just this month, as CarNewsChina reports. It’s supposed to have 1360 horsepower and apparently Next EV will only make six of them.

I’m not wildly surprised at that low production figure. This looks like a pretty serious machine, not something easy to build. Look at the inner-wheelwell cutouts up front, like a top-flight Le Mans sports prototype.

Top speed, oddly, is supposed to only reach 186 mph (a Porsche Panamera GTS will go faster), and a full debut is expected this time next month.

Now if only I knew why the car was getting chased by an Audi. What do they know about EVs?
