I have one of these for the next few days. I’m not complaining.

Can you believe the R8 has been around since 2007 now? The all-new, Huracan-based 2016 R8 is slated to go on sale later this year or early next year. I plan on giving the ultimate version of the outgoing R8 a good sendoff before we say goodbye to it forever.

This is a V10 Plus model, which packs a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 with 550 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. While I’m a little sad that my test car doesn’t have the famed gated six-speed manual, the seven-speed paddle shift S-tronic gearbox is hard to get upset about.

Things I like: The V10 makes a delightful howl all the way up to its 8700 RPM redline, it’s incredibly fast, gearbox is great, it still looks absolutely stunning even after all these years, extremely engaging to drive.

Things I don’t like as much: The interior’s showing its age in certain respects, no Bluetooth streaming audio, infotainment system is laughably outdated for a supercar in 2015.

Price is $196,500. No mileage limits this time. I left work early last night and put nearly 200 on it. Almost killed an entire tank of gas. Drop your questions in the comments.
