Mama mia! What is this molto bella Italian roadster with an Alfa Romeo badge up front? Why, it’s the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spider, and it’s a wonderful surprise we’ll see at this week’s Geneva Motor Show.

Here’s the downside: no, this is not the much-awaited new roadster from Alfa Romeo, despite the name. It’s a special edition car from design firm Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera as they celebrate 90 years in business. It’s an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione underneath the skin, and only seven will be built—they did something similar a few years back with the Disco Volante coupe, and now it loses a roof.

But damn if it isn’t very, very pretty, a detailed work of art inside and out. Quick, too, assuming it has the 8C’s 4.7-liter V8 packing 444 horsepower.

This car pleases my eyeballs. I’ll take six of them.
