The 707 Horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Will Be Way Too Cheap

Muscle cars are all about numbers, and the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has them in spades. Numbers like 707 horsepower, eight cylinders, 6.2 liters, and a 10.86 second quarter mile time on drag radials. Now we can add another number to that list: $59,900.

The official starting price of the Hellcat was leaked from some sort of Chrysler event this week, and it can be had for a smidge under $60,000. If you ask me, that's a screaming deal. It's not Nissan Versa cheap, obviously, but it's an insane amount of power for that price. I was really expecting this car to cost more like $70,000 or so.

As you can see on this chart, the supercharged Challenger Hellcat is a tad more expensive than the 580 horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the outgoing Ford Mustang GT500, and quite a bit cheaper than the track focused Camaro Z/28. It is also faster than all of those cars in the quarters.

Not bad, SRT. Not bad at all. And by "not bad," I really mean "Holy shit, this is gonna be so awesome, and God bless American speed."
