When BMW unveiled the 3.0 CSL Hommage Concept earlier this year, the world uttered a collective “Uh...” Fortunately, in time for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, BMW made it at least 30 percent less ugly the old fashioned way — with a race car livery.
You’ll note that white, red, violet and blue is the same scheme from several of their cars, including the original 3.0 CSL Batmobile that raced in the 1970s (and was recently brought back in Z4M form.) Now it’s called the 3.0 CSL Hommage R, and the R stands for “we’re Really sorry that last one was so damned ugly.”
Still just a concept, not a production car. But it’s better now. I’m looking forward to seeing it in person.
