Emergency crews in Virginia are currently working a 75-car crash that reportedly killed three people and sent 25 others to the hospital near the North Carolina state line this afternoon, according to local news reports.

North Carolina's WXII-12 reports that the crash occurred in Carroll County along Interstate 77. The exact details of how the pileup occurred have not been released, but the TV station says fog may have been a factor.

The highway is currently shut down near the crash site. We'll update this as we get more information.

UPDATE: WXII-12 puts the total vehicles involved at 95 now. Tow trucks were removing cars from the scene for more than five hours after the crash.

Here is a video one motorist took of the crash scene. Try not to mind the awful music they inserted.
