We’ve been following Honda on Twitter for a while, and two days ago they tweeted something so seemingly innocuous, we scrolled right past it. (Update: it’s not what we all thought.)
Oh, neat, they’re opening a new R&D fac-WAIT WHAT IS THAT?!
Could this be the new Baby NSX?! It definitely looks like the patent drawings that were revealed last month:
The only thing we can say for sure is that we’ve enabled text notifications for Honda’s tweets from now until we get an answer.
Also, where can I get one of those chair things?
Update: We emailed a Honda spokesman to ask what this car is, and sadly — despite how much it looks like those baby NSX patent drawings — it’s merely a design study from a few years ago.
It’s a three year old design study made by our LA advance design studio. It’s on permanent display in the lobby of our Silicon Valley R&D facility, and was on display at our press conference last week. It’s not an S2000 or baby NSX, but it is an indication that our designers continually dream about sports cars.
I hope they dream of making it a real car someday!
