Sunday night was the first time we had ever been to the Beverly Center, and the first time anybody stateside had officially seen the 2007 Ducati Hypermotard S. Oddly enough the Supermotard craze grew out of the Superbikers series on Wide World of Sports. Superbikers brought together road and off-road motorcycle racing, and a Supermotard melds elements of a dirt bike and a street bike. Ducati has taken the idea one step further and produced the Hypermotard, which melds elements Streetfighter and Supermotard motorcycles. An air-cooled 1100cc Desmodromic twin supplies the hyper in moto. McDreamy, Mini-Me, the Rampage and a Dane were also on deck to check out the motard action.

The name makes me turn in to Beavis.
Hooligans rejoice!,man if this don't look like a suspended driver's license waiting to happen,i don't know what does!...very sexy.
@Seth L: seriously. i bet it is a great bike but using tard in the name can't be of help to anyone.
@harumph:
Don't care about the name. I've always liked Duc's, and this one would look soooo sweet in my garage.
That bike is cool. It's Wertarded. You're welcome Ray.
@Vintage Racer:
agreed. it just seems like a little common sense would have saved this thing from unfortunate nomenclature.
I love me some Ducati's. I really just want a Ducati Monster Dark 900 for my garage.
It certainly stunts well the right hands...

Those hands belong to Ruben Xaus by the way.
Is Mini-me the true Hypermotard??
I'm sure I'm falling for some joke that I missed... but you guys DO know that "motard" was not invented by ducati.. so it's not that the bike has unfortunate nomenclature... it's actually a bad-ass modification of "supermotard"... and "hypermotard" is as appropriate a name as it gets.
Meh, I'd wait for the inevitable Hypermotard S with Ohlins forks. Or, just get yourself a 1098S or a Monster S4RS, which are both cooler. Or, if you've got the megabucks, get yourself a 1098R, which is supposed to have a 1198cc V-Twin for SBK racing.
I love naked bikes, but I've never really taken to the supermotard theme. Personally, and as cool as this bike is, the monster S4R S is a better bike, especially if you're gonna tear up the road.
@elwood: actually the bike to get if you really have the bucks is the Desmosedici RR. 989cc L4, mmmmmm, 200+ horses at the rear wheel ooooo
it's great and all but i like the styling of the S4R S much much more...
That's one sweet ride, but it looks more like a hyperunicycle to me.
Hooooly wow...this would look great next to my 1000 Desmodosport. When can I get one?!?
