We haven't heard from Mercedes on this one, but its sweeping the Mercheads community like a superstrain of mono. A track-only McLaren Mercedes SLR 722? Why yes, it's the GTR, and according to accompanying signage, it's 661 pounds less than a typical 722. It's a ready-to-race model in the vein of the Ferrari FXX. Apparently, only 21 are set for production, at 775,000 Euros a pop, and will likely be sold only to hardcore Mercedes insiders. [Carpassion via Supercars.net]

I am so down with this car. Even more so than the standard McMerc SLR. I really dig the aero package and wheels, and a weight reduction as significant as 661 lbs is nothing to scoff at.
Another entry into the exciting and world famous UAE Gran Prix. Yawn.
I wonder how this would do around the Top Gear test track. The basic SLR was at the top of the board for a while...
when mercedes came out with the 722 edition SLR, i kinda wondered why it didn't have a big red #772 on it. i guess this car shows us the reason why... it looks really tacky.
Have they replaced the electronically simulated brakes with real ones? Every review I've seen said their techno-trickery is hard to drive quickly with.
@smokyburnout: Dude, it's a rally car now!
Don't stop, release the
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Roadster GTR AMG Black edition
If only I had the photochop skillz to slap that on the rear.
Holee shizzle. Definitely a runner for the best-racing-Merc-of-all-time award.
This car is a stealthy german beast - give me mine minus those damn annoying red decals so I can take it public roads and not be noticed right away as a race car.
