2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Now With New Pictures!

Forum frequenter CosmicTDI over at VWVortex Motive's "Car Lounge" has snagged himself some new Kroger parking lot shots of the 2008 Honda Accord coupe. They look better than the last ones we had — and this time we've even got a higher-res shot of the interior. Is nice. Great Success! We'll just add these ones to the last shots we'd procured of the four-cylinder, V6, coupe and interior shots of the 2008 Honda Accord — all of which we've included in galleries below. • Looks good, from the grill to the A pillar, after that it looks like someone got constipated.

  • Talk about derivative styling. The coupe looks like a cross between a BMW 6 series, a Tiburon, and a Scion tC. And this is from a Honda fan.

  • I know, it looks just like X car, Y car, and Z car. How original.

  • derivative? yes. but it's at least derived from nice-looking cars.

now make it something other than front wheel drive.

  • I can foresee an Accord Coupe vs. Altima Coupe dukefest! Now we just need Toyota to come out with a new Solara that's actually tolerable...

  • Silver is not this car's best color IMHO.

I rememberwhen C&D tested the 3rd Gen Integra sometime around 1993, they said something like, "....the hood gap looks big enough to throw a cat through."

Sady, it looks no better here.

I like it, but, this car is a collage of the best of Asian Today.

I would expect more from a company capable of the current TL and Civic. They can do better.

  • BTW, World's Longest Headlamps

  • @Maxichamp: frame surfacing?

That whole area where the headlight, hood and grille come together is astoundingly awful. Its like automotive cubism, in a 'cubism is crap' kind of way. Seriously Honda, you know better than this.

  • that grill is terrible. Look at how the lines from the headlights don't connect to the grill lines. that's just design 101, how the f did this get approved? The rest of the car looks ok, derivative, but ok. That grill just kills it though. blech!

  • I agree with ADAMSONAR...the hood seam, being where it is, is just inexplicable. Why does it float so far above the grille, rather than meet it? And why is the seam itself so wide?

    Preproduction?

  • Honda..errr..no...Hyundai...no Honda Tiburon?

  • I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the new Accord would be a better design if ONLY it looked a little more like every other slightly sporty Japanese sedan. What happened here is Honda drew a good, if copycat design, and then ruined it in trying to make it 'original' by adding a worthless character line down the sides and about 10 unnecessary facets on the rear bumper and trunklid.

Also, it looks like the higher cost of stamping this ugly sheetmetal means that Honda can no longer afford LED taillights. The Accord's technology, like the rest of the design, is apparently also a step backwards.

    @gleamindacube:
I dig the Tiburon and I dig the new Accord coupe. I wish the 4 door looked a little better from the A pillar forward.
As I've said before, my daily driver TT will most likely get replaced with some variant of the new Accord.

  • The front end looks like it was designed by a committee.

  • Well, I for one really like it; it's much more attractive then the current fatback Accord coupe. This one is sleeker and stylish, if not particularly distinctive.

    Accords in general are not really known for their cutting edge style. Instead, they are supposed to do what every other car does, just better. I'm optimistic that this coupe will continue the trend, both inside and out. {Prof. Jonathan}

  • Meh, needs more front overhang.

  • So what's with the sheetmetal crease under the door handles running from behind the front wheel opening to the rear?? This design has absolutely no integration to it at all ... just a bunch of lines and sharp edges with no cohesiveness. This must be the same folks who 'did' the Element, or Aztek wanna-be as I call it.

  • I think the Civic coupe looks better. But if the Accord coupe is going to be available with Honda's new clean diesel, it might be more attractive.

I don't hate it, though those swooped-back headlights just look like they're trying waaay too hard.

I wonder if this thing has a really low Cd or just looks like it does?

  • The back end is ripped off from the 2001 Chrysler 300, which is not a good thing.

  • Underwhelmed... but then again, when one is making a car perennially in the top 3, one doesn't do a really ground-breaking remodel unless one wants to slip into Obscuresville (1996 Taurus ring a bell?).

Brand new cars can take the risk of shaking it up a bit but long running successes just don't fare well with 'em.

  • I hope these aren't the same as the Euro Accords.

  • @TPSreports: The angle from directly behind does look almost exactly like the 300M, but I think it's just a coincidence. I don't think they're benchmarking early 2000 Chrylsers, although those were nice looking cars.

Overall, this really doesn't do it for me. There's just no continuity...it's a mish-mash of unflattering details. The Civic SI parked next to it looks waaaaay better.

  • The overall shape is good, but all the details - the grill, the headlights, the taillights, etc, look like they were pasted on. Sing along: it's Mis-ter Potato-car, and his bucket of parts.

    Also, needs more cowbell.

  • I like the front look a lot, but I can't seem to shake the thought that this car looks like something Saturn should have kicked out as it's vehicles evolved instead of what they turned into today, in terms of looks. I mean the evolution of the very distinct Saturn headlights, just stretched outward. The emblem in the middle of the grill, look at it picture it painted red.

  • At least now it has a prominent Hoffmeister Kink. Originality abounds with this baby, especially with the new "No Rhyme or Reason" front-end amalgamation of Picasso's cast-off sketches. It seems as if the designer's straight edge was broken into several pieces and glued back together with an edible glue stick.

Or Honda's new design philosophy is "No lines shall ever connect!"

  • Crispy on the ends, round and pudgy in the middle.

Yes, I have to side with the legions of fans who say that the Oscar Meyer weinermobile has more class.

I admire you, Honda, but if you continue to build such ugly cars, we have no choice but to continue our boycott. PLEASE: more S2000, less of all the other pathetic styling clues you threw on this model.

  • Thats not a Honda, it's an Alfa Romeo GTV.

  • New ad campaign: The new 2008 Accord coupe. For when a Scion tC just isn't big enough.

Thanks to a member of the "CarLounge" forum that goes by the alias "CosmicTDI", we’ve got a new set of images in our hands fully revealing the upcoming 2008 Honda Accord Coupe.

  • The new, 2007 Honda CR-V is more powerful, more stylish and more comfortable than the previous-generation 2006 models. Its new suspension geometry delivers an improved ride and better, more responsive handling.

The engine, still an inline four cylinder, employs variable intake valve timing to optimize horsepower and torque for acceleration and cruising speeds. The transmission is a new, five-speed automatic. Real Time all-wheel drive is offered on all three models. The U.S. EPA rates the front-wheel drive CR-V at 23/30 city/highway miles per gallon and the all-wheel drive at 22/28.

Thus, buyers looking for peppy performance, snazzy styling and easier financing have better choices. Its Honda fuel filter and other accessories like Honda oil pan in their excellent condition...But for Honda loyalists looking for something better than their current CR-V or an SUV to step up into from their Civic, the '07.
