Tokyo Motor Show: Fuel Cell Powered Suzuki Crosscage Revealed

There you have it folks, proof that if you lock engineers in a room with a bag of LSD, it's possible for amazing things to happen. Somehow the magicians at Suzuki managed to cram an entire fuel cell system into the skeletal frame of the Suzuki Crosscage. It is a bit on the awkward-looking side. But it's the tech rather than the looks that are the main feature here. This strikes a blow for alternative alternative power systems everywhere (ie. kitten dreams)

  • Leaving a trail of water won't fly in MotoGP.

  • Glad to see Suzuki returning to oddball powerplants and engineering for engineering's sake. This could be a suitable successor to the RE5 Rotary or the Water Buffalo.

BTW, I'm digging all the recent Moto coverage. How about a Project Bike Hell?

  • I'm wondering what the power output is. Something tells me it won't match the bike's racy looks.

  • This has nothing to do with MotooGP. THIS is all about real world usability. As such, it's impossible to take it seriously without a passenger seat.. C'Mon people, it's not rocket science!!! Just give me a viable alternative to emissions that won't affect the performance of my vehicle!

a "bag" of LSD? maybe a sheet, or a vial, but a bag? unless you have pure, cystaline LSD, it's kind of tough to just put it in a bag, and even then, since a dose is smaller than the human eye can see, well, you're just asking for trouble. actually, the cop who tries to taste the powder on suspicion that it's cocaine is asking for trouble.

I haven't decided yet what past transgressions I'm going to have to forgive, but Jalopnik kicked themselves up a few notches with the stellar bike coverage this week. I'll find a moment between pints of lager tonight to mention you to a friend or two.

@nutbastard: I usually keep my LSD in my third member.

  • @Ipschnug: An electric motor has Godzilla-like torque off the line, err, at near-zero rpm.

@nutbastard: I normally receive an LSD in a box. Rips right thru bags...

    Torsen- or clutch-style?

  • Hmmm, I wonder what nastiness Mr. Henson, at Velocity racing racing could produce from this????

  • I think this would be proof that if you lock stylists in a room with a bag of LSD they can pretend to make amazing things happen.

Unless painted balsa wood can turn hydrogen into water vapor and electricity I don't think this bike is going anywhere.

  • I don't mean to complain and obviously a few of the commentators like their bikes, but isn't this site about cars? Where is all the super-weird-microcar-potential? It's been bike after bike for the last two or three days now!

  • I just want an affordable smartcar with a hayabusa engine. Smartuki wants $18k just to modify one.

  • I like cars and motorcycles, and use both actively in my day to day life. I am really stoked that Jalopnik is covering both forms of motorized awsomeness. I think there's room at Jalopnik for both bikes and super-weird-microcar-potential (as well as super-huge-merican-iron-potential). :D
