For Ford, getting out-finessed by the Chevrolet Suburban demanded a tactical retreat from the turn of the century's Bigger and Badder SUV War. Sure, Ford's truck-sized Excursion approximated the biggest and baddest, but while perfect for the Secret Service, was way rough around the edges for the average family of four plus Fido. Ford cancelled it and set about building a longer Expedition to fill the void. The resulting Ford Everest, expected for 2007, will likely be more of an overly friendly Saint Bernard dog to the Excursion's Hungry, Hungry Hippo. Edmunds Inside Line has more details.
