A few new photos of a 3-series prototype surfaced this week, indicating the three is in for a mild restyling. Noted differences to the Munichers' bread-and-butter for 2009 include altered front bumper and air intakes, rounded-off grille, sculpted-in hood and sharper side skirts — that from the photo analysts at E90Post. Talk about detail-oriented; we had no idea Monk was into BMWs. [E90Post]

It's unclear from the tape camouflage if they have done it, but I'm really hoping it displays an anus that's at least 75% less puckered.
Rear ends are a big problem for BMW. They didn't use to be, but they are now. The 7, the 6, the 5, the Z4, and the 3. All rubbish in the back. And that's the end you want other drivers behind you to say "Wow! Wish I could afford that beautiful car!" instead of "What the hell is that?"
@bmoredlj: well they'd struggle to make the 3-series rump more ugly than it is now
I've never warmed to the nose on the 3-series, so I'm looking forward to what comes from this.
BMW at least seems to be trying to keep their styling fresh.
@badco: i agree completely, loosen up those tails and it will look so much more natural.
Wow, even with seeing the 3series tail-light under the tape, I keep seeing more SAAB or is that Camry (or *gasp* buick) than BMW back there...
@jakay11:
I was thinking "Focus" ...
It's still better than the 318Ti, which looked like it had been rear-ended by a garbage truck.
Are BMW actively trying to make the rear look like an old civic, rather than a Hyundai Elantra?!
e-30 e-30 E-30 E-30 ... E-30!!!
I thought they were going to add the coupe headlights. Ass does look like it'll be better. E36 FTW!
It looks to similar for me to care. Long gone are the days when cars actually looked different from year to year...
*it looks TOO similar... Sorry.
they're just f***ing around! It won't be an actual facelift... which is a good thing! everytime a beemer's been face-lifted since 2000, it's been made to look more grotesque.
The 4-door 3 series design desperately needs attention, it is soooo un-inspiringly ugly.
Any restyling that undoes Banglification is a good thing. This cleansing unfortunately just doesn't quite result in a Bangle-Free vehicle. Bangle is the Sticky Film that Won't Rinse Away.
Worse still, now Asian manufacturers -- all of them -- are imitating his trash too.
This in my opinion is the finest example of modern BMW styling: www.bmwmc.dk/images/walls2/k1200rs.jpg
Dying for a front shot. I want to see if they got rid of the milk mustache.
Looks like they're electing to keep the angry-Pokemon headlights and the 90's Korean car tail lights. Ugh.
