Last we saw a 2009 BMW 7-Series prototype, it had the typical plastic body cladding, missing decals and blacked-out everything. This time, the lads at World Car Fans managed to get their hands on the new 7-series done up in perhaps the most creative camouflage we've yet seen (though we have to wonder if this is the best way to draw attention away from the car) Pictures of the boring camo'd version below:
Word on the street is the new 7-series will feature a range of engines including the 272-hp 3.0-liter straight-six, 414-hp V8 and probably some version of the 6.0-liter V12. We hear it'll be out on the streets during the next calendar year, but we hear a lot of things. [World Car Fans]

Yikes, looks like a tie that Kojak might have worn.
The swirls throw your eye off and make it really hard to tell where the lines of the car are...like actually camouflage and unlike the usual nose glasses disguises mfctrs slap on.
@rkwadd: Agreed, I don't know where to look for what!
ooh...This is clearly the new city camo for airheaded suspects..Lures them with a warm tender fuzz and convince true rebirth in nirvana when entered.....I am convinced...
I'm not kidding when I say this: I have that in the form of a shirt...
Damn, I would buy a car in that pattern.
Hey, I saw that freakycamobimmer at the last Chinese New Year celebration!
Did this one sound like it had firecrackers popping & cracking around it as it went down the street, too?
Once again, we find ourselves routing for the pre-production camo as a paintjob.
I'm curious who'll the first manufacturer to offer that or matte or something...
It's probably body cladding, but that's a seriously iffy crease down the flanks. I wish Bangle would find a new styling theme to work with.
@Euromobile: It's to the point now where I am wishing bangle would find a land mine to step on.
Not sure what the 'flage is achieving. It sure looks like there is one helluva lot of old E65 7 series under there...
@Andrewpetty: Taking political incorrectness to strange new levels, as always! In all seriousness though, the guy is getting out of hand.
@Rust-MyEnemy: I was thinking that too. Certainly the front end.
are you guys sure this isn't NIGO's new ride??

As noted above (though less pointedly) - the purpose of the camouflage on a pre-production car is simply to hide the detail. Of course, you can still pick out the general shape if you analyze it enough. However, the pattern breaks up any light/shadow that could give away the exact body lines.
@Rust-MyEnemy: WCF has an update. The car is a current (E-65) 7-series testing out new camouflage treatment in a most not secret fashion.
It's. Still. Ugly.
@Torque: Aha! Thanks. Good camo, though.
@racermd: We know, dude.
BMW Flecktarn. They would have won the war with that.
Please tell me the '60s are coming back. Please.
I believe in my heart that under all that camo (I mean, look at that rear deck..pure reflecto-tape..) lies as close as they dare to the perfection that is the E38 7'er... Just bring it back..with another 100hp per liter, thx.
Fire. Everyone. Who. Works. On. How. The. BMWs. Look. Now.
Everyone.
im not gonna say much about the paint, but the body work looks like it was put togther by the kids in the special ed shop class.
