Like they say, if you're not spying you're not trying. Renault is in hot water over apparently possessing some of McLaren's information (just layout, dimensions, fueling system data, gear assembly, suspension components and hydraulics) and will have to appear in front of the FIA next month. This is just a couple of months after McLaren was busted for having secret Ferrari technical data. The result of that was a possible $100 million fine and a disqualification in the constructor's championship. I wonder who is stealing Renault's data... [ITV-F1]

Who's stealing Renault data? Honda. HA! No, I'm just kidding it's really Toyota.
Naw, the answer is who's leaving Renault...
So they're actually saying Renault has Ferrari's data?
I'm confused...
Renault may very well have Ferrari data if they got their stolen stuff from Mclaren.
Don Shula better stay out of this one.
No, the subject on the 06Dec Council is whether or not Renault has *McLaren* data, such as "...fuelling system, gear assembly, oil cooling system, hydraulic control system and a novel suspension component used by the 2006 and 2007 McLaren F1 cars."
I.E., *more* data than McLaren got fined $100M re: Stepneygate in August. (i.e., not reprimanded for in July)
Don't you love it, Belichek gets castigated for "cheating" and goes out and stomps the Colts. Renault will probably tromp all over Super Aguri!
If Renault has McLaren, and McLaren has Ferarri, who has Williams?
@SeanKHotay: How is are 3 computer disks (yes they are actually "disks" not "discs") more than the 800+ pages of Ferrari material McLaren had in their possession?
@stuntmanmike: It's not.
Again, McLaren was not fined for Coughlan's possessing Ferrari data (July's FIA World Council mtg). They were reprimanded but no sanctions...i.e., slap on the wrist.
McLaren was fined $100M for the *use* of said per admissions of Alonso & de la Rosa (which, BTW, Ron Dennis relayed to FIA (Maxie) once Alonso told him what was going on in his team).
I refer to the actual World Council findings and $anctions, not who was actually guilty and when.
Sorry, incomplete thought..."fined $100M for use of the weight and pitstop data...."
3 discs can hold quite a large amount of data. More than 800 pages at any rate.
Here's a hint: every team has just about every other team's data. People in F1 move around a lot, and engineers in general are poorly paid. It's very easy to walk out the door with a USB drive full of data, although of course it's much more common to walk out the door with a head full of data.
none of this would've happened if the FIA hadn't put a stop on engine development...
ok maybe not... but maaaybeee
OK, OK, I confess! I stole Renault's stolen data and sold it to Ferrari.
