Tis The Season For Winter Weather Kits

frozencivic.jpgWith winter on its way and holiday road trips just around the corner, probably not a bad time to review what's needed for a good winter weather kit. For those of you above the Mason-Dixon line, you never know when a weekend drive to a friend's house can end up with you having to snuggle with your buddy Greg while the two of your ride out a bilzzard. If you're unlucky, you could end up alone in the middle-of-nowhere. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency has assembled a pretty good list, which is included below

    • Flashlight with extra batteries
    • Basic first-aid kit
    • Necessary medications
    • Pocket knife
    • Blankets or sleeping bags
    • Extra clothes (include rain gear, mittens, socks)
    • High-calorie, non-perishable foods (dried fruits, nuts, canned food)
    • Non-electric can opener
    • Container of water
    • Shovel
    • Sand for generating traction
    • Tire chains or traction mats
    • Basic tool kit (pliers, wrench, screwdriver)
    • Tow rope
    • Brightly colored cloth to utilize as a flag

Is there anything you like to carry with you on a winter trip? Portable heater? PSP? [N I&M]
