Car clocks are cool- I've been eyeballing some nice ones at the junkyard lately as I contemplate my next junkyard-obsessed project- so it's nice to see an article about some of the nicer vehicle clocks over the years. From an 1822 carriage clock to a modern-day Mercedes timepiece, you'll get a nice slice of car-clock history from this Watchismo Times blog entry. Thanks to Jason for the tip!

What about the clocks in the Infiniti models now? I like the unique oval shape.
Beatiful, makes me want to find a 1960 Olds to restore.
Nice gallery. I'm not a clockhead but I was struck by the chronometer on the steering wheel of that barn-find Bugatti 57C Atalante:

I looked up the replacement part cost for a digital clock for my '87 PU: $170! The next year's model clock is only $45. What gives? The clocks are virtually identical.
Thank God mine still works.
@SRekauqh:
I used to think so, too. Then I read that article and realized that they were just ripping off the design used 1956 Oldsmobiles.
Also, with respect to the article, no Mopar Tick-Tock Tach? No snazzy art deco clock from a '49 Hudson?
The 14YO boy in me couldn't resist clicking the 'erotic' tag on the right side of that watchismo page. Cute stuff, NSFW btw.
@lascauxcaveman: How often do you have a 14yo boy in you? And what is he doing clicking your mouse?
LOL, sorry, it couldn't be helped!
At the resto shop I used to work at, there was a melted clock/gauge cluster from a burnt '63ish Thunderbird that I absolutely loved the looks of, it melted perfectly to look just like that Salvador Dali painting "the persistence of memory" I'll have to see if it's still there, it was strangely beautiful.
@squablow: Did it still work, or did it magically stop at exactly 4:20?
Here's a hilarious car-related one from lascaux's link: [www.worldtempus.com]
@MarionCobretti: is it all the early morning vodka or is that a round clock in your link not an oval like the Infinity clock SRekaugh was talking about?
