    Japan's Mazda Verisa Gets Facelift

J-spec-o-philes take note: Mazda's Verisa tall hatch has gotten a facelift for 2007. The Verisa — if you'd never heard of it before possibly seeing this one — is the upmarket version of the Demio, also known as the Mazda2 — a model that's been mentioned as a possible competitor to the Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit in the states (with a Ford-badged counterpart) if the subcompact market takes off. The Verisa — which is more spec'd out than the Demio — sells in the neighborhood of $14,000-$16,000 in Japan. For you? think $12,000+ but without the swank interior or fakie chrome bits.
