Pardon me for sounding like Travis Bickle, but as a former resident of the city that turns even its most devotedly progressive residents into bitter crypto-fascists, I start foaming at the mouth whenever I hear that the city's political leaders have again decided to ignore the first 1,000 items on the list of stuff they need to deal with and instead have done something pointless and/or stupid. This time they're banning motor vehicles from the main east-west road through Golden Gate Park, thus dumping that many more confused tourists and drunk locals onto the pedestrian-choked streets of the Sunset and Richmond Districts. Actually, this wouldn't have affected me much during the time I lived there; I avoided driving in the park- and in fact driving in the city at all- the way I avoid a case of fuming string-wart anal chlamydia.
