A Canadian company is touting its RFID solution to vehicle tracking as superior to plate-reading cameras. Instead of a passel of plate-reading cameras, they're suggesting a network of sensors throughout Southern BC, allowing authorities to track cars in real time with GPS coordinates. Some call it smart. We think either solution should be shelved. Besides, if you were a real criminal, wouldn't you simply take a cordless drill to the license plate and bore through the chip?

Or make a small faraday cage which would still make the license readable. It would still be legal, and show the government how they're spending so much money on bullshit nowadays!
Not sure how accurate the information in this article is. But I do know that there are 6 police cars in the Lower Mainland equipped with cameras that can scan as many as 6000 plates per officer shift. They are accurate and there is no need for plates to have special tags or transmitters. This has passed the Privacy Council in Canada as well. If you were really going to make a good effort of it you would duplicate someone elses data from their RFID tag. The technology exists today.
From all of this I can see in the near future a Bell Radar Plus RFID Jammer/Scanner Scanner (scans for the RFID scanner...scanning you)
