With Subaru giving SEMA attendees an eyeful of what a Forester STI might look like, we're curious. Is the company just teasing, or are they planning something similar for production? Brace yourselves, Scoobieheads; according to AutoWeek it's the latter. AW reports Subaru is considering STI versions of both the Forester and Legacy models. The company's vice president of product planning, Tomohiro Ishitobi, revealed that brass feels the market is ready for more performance-oriented cars, and that a Legacy STI is on their "wish list." We know about a hundred score of Jalopnik readers who'd take out a second mortgage on their scrotal region to get their hands on something like that. Wish list? Nihon, please.

An STi Legacy would be rather sweet. So would a Forrester (those are some sweet pictures). What would make me happiest of all? Kill the Baja, make a real successor to the Brat and then do the STi thing to that. That I'd buy. Yesterday.
Put me on the Legacy STI list for 2010 when my lease is up on my G35... unless they give it those hideous blue-insert seats! :-X
I was planning on getting a G35 but a Legacy STI would easily sway me. I'm not sure how they manage to make the somewhat Taurus-looking Legacy so hot in its STI clothes.
The Legacy, non-wagon, is a very very nice car... Performance tuning that is going to put some real competition on the entry-level luxury range of cars.
SUPER WAGON POTENTIAL!
There is already a Forester STI in Japan.

The site is mostly in Japanese, but I can make out "265PS". PS = Horsepower.
Fifth Gear (UK) did a brief review of this vehicle last season, with rumors that it would be brought to the UK soon. It looked incredible going around the track. Corners very flat, and accelerates like a bat out of hell.
Now they just have to bring it over the pond for all of us to drool over.
Put me down for an STi Forester.
A friend who runs a Subaru speed parts business (http://www.kartboy.com) has a full STi swap into his Forester, complete with the electronic center diff, etc., and the car is a complete blast to drive. Makes for a pretty quick "shop truck"! ;-)
Of course like any good Subie owner, he isn't making stock horsepower either...
OMG Forrester STI !!!!! 11 OMG SKEETSKEETSKEET!!!!!111111
As a fan of the Legacy GT and GT Spec B, I'm all for the STi Legacy. And Forester STi.
Hell, I'd even buy a Tribeca STi, as long as it was fast as shit and handled like a rollercoaster.
A mate of mine photochopped up a white Forester STi with the back chopped off and camino-fied. It looked sweet.
I'd give up a kidney for that.
As a Forester owner I'd upgrade to the Sti version yesterday. Modding up an XT is a PITA.
But collecting on the scrotal mortgages is such a drag.
But kick down an sti Legacy, but keep it under $35k please!
i'm in. actually i will be looking to trade in my prius next year and have been reading that there are several new sportwagons coming along for the 08 model year. this forester sti would be tough to top
MikeM, I didn't think it could get easier to modify the FXT. All the STI stuff just bolts on and with just a few of the WRX STI parts you'll be quicker than the WRX STI.
owning an 05 legacy. They send me a survey about the car, told them if they make a Legacy Sti
I would get it in a heart beat.
