According to this bit in Newsweek, skyrocketing gas prices haven't stopped the purchase of V8-powered vehicles, and in fact, sales of certain models (read: Escalade) are up as much as 127%. Meanwhile, Honda's Accord Hybrid has seen a sales nosedive, and Ford's had to heavily incentivize its hybrid SUVs. That said, the Prius is still selling out. Stop a second: what do the Prius and 'Slade both have in common? They're both basically image vehicles that don't make a helluva lot of rational sense. If other, more rational hybrids aren't selling, what does that mean about American tastes?
