Driving the More Powerful 2005 Chevrolet SSR

The 2004 Chevrolet SSR could be our least favorite vehicle built in a decade. It has the exterior fit of a kit car, and the pretense of an carmaker who'd rather stuff vague echoes of its own history up buyers' asses than listen to what they would want from a $40,000 toy they'll probably drive thrice a month. Then again, we live in a part of the country where the SSR would sit idle about 95% of the year. We've also never actually cruised in the meta-orgasmic automotive Sylvania the SSR is meant to evoke. (We were more the "parked in a remote cul de sac slugging PBRs" kind of adolescents — the boulevard scene included us and some guy named "Dave" in a Toyota Celica.) Hey, it's a new year, try another opinion.
