    Crossovers Outsell Truck-based SUVs

According to USA Today, car-based crossover vehicles (which some awkward souls are calling CUVs) have outsold truck-based SUVs for the past three months. In fact, the paper says, the Ford Freestyle is the crossover most traded in by owners of the truck-based Explorer — which doesn't say much, considering the company is reportedly planning to discontinue the slow-selling Freestyle. Still, if the trend keeps up, GM's plan to introduce something like 427 new crossover models in the next several years may turn out to be a sound plan, at least for the first couple of years until the market is flooded and buyers move on to the next big thing. Then, maybe the 1965 Country Squire will finally make a long-anticipated comeback (much anticipated by us at least).
