BMW's hoarse-throated but potent 5.0-liter V10 has won International Engine of the Year, as judged by a panel of the world's auto media types, for the second year in a row. Volkswagen's 1.4-liter TSI Twincharger took Best New Engine for 2006 (and best engine, 1-liter to 1.4-liter category), but in all, BMW walked away with five out of twelve awards. The Bimmer boys also took best engine in the 2.5-liter to 3-liter category for the 3-liter Twin-Turbo Diesel (535d), and in the 3-liter to 4-liter category for the BMW 3.2-liter (M3, Z4 M) and above 4-liter category (V10), as well as Best Performance Engine (V10). Can those guys do anything wrong? We'll see when the next SMG box comes out.
