Ooh, those spy shots from this morning sure were prescient, weren't they? BMW is capitalizing on the PR two-fer today — spy shots in the AM, real shots in the late AM — and talking up the two-fer in changes to the new-for-2007 Beemer SUV. The big story's the engine on the 3.0sd. It's a twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel with 286 hp in output — and as BMW says, it's "the most powerful diesel engine ever to power a production BMW in the UK." But BMW claims this isn't just a story about a new engine — but also a story about the SUV's "slightly tweaked" exterior. These "slight tweaks" include "rear...LED lights" and a "color-coded spoiler" and an interior featuring a "three-spoke steering wheel." What can we say — we're slightly underwhelmed. The UK edition is expected to drop in September and the US edition should be available in the near future shortly thereafter. Thanks to the boys at Dubspeed, we've got two more pics after the jump — we'll have the rest up shortly.

I don't understand the point of the X3. It's just a taller, uglier, and more expensive version of the 3-series car or estate. You would never go off-roading in it. People would be better off getting a 3-series with AWD due to the lower center of gravity.
i'm excited about some of the diesel things happening. i got spoiled by the mileage on my prius, and am hoping there are more high mileage choices when i get my next car, next year or so. just buying a newer prius (until the next gen comes out, anyway) doesn't thrill me.
how do you say "meh" in appropriately disinterested german?
It is designed in Austria and made in Austria. Did you ever see an automobile of Austrian origin that just was not plain ugly?
people would better of getting wagons instead of minivans and SUV.. they would also be better off buying 5 door hatchbacks over sedans.. regardless.. they do as they please, and as the Caliber is showing .. style anything like and SUV and it will sell.. I do not agree with that mindset, but oh well.. they do have it.. so it pointless arguing against it - they are the customers. Igor
All I can think of is the Three Stooges snoring rythmically together.
