Atchison, Topeka, Santa Fe and Detroit: The Ford Super Chief Introduced

Ford just took the wraps of a big locomotive of a honker of a monster of a throbber of a brobdingnagian beast of a pickup. The F-250 Super Chief, which inherits the wind, inherits the earth, inherits the legacy of the Mighty Tonka F-350 and inherits the name of a classic AT&SF locomotive, without inheriting the train's sleek and sexy styling. Instead it resembles a Union Pacific DD35. FoMoCo's touting it as the world's first Tri-Fuel vehicle, allowing it to run on E85, gasoline or hydrogen.

Other wackiness? A glass roof, which according to Ford, "allows vista views." Former '60s Olds wagon owners who still walk the earth are no doubt soiling their Depends with glee. Between its supercharged V-10 and its luxo-railcoach interior, this seems like a schizoid truck designed to please greenies, tough guys and retro-flappers. It revels in its own utter pointlessness, which is what makes it pretty fucking cool.
