German car mag Auto Motor und Sport is reporting the $500,000 Merc SLR is up for a performance makeover. Mercedes officials are mum, but word is the next model of the hand-built, gull-wing door'd supercar will reportedly get a horsepower increase from 626 to 650 hp, a firmer suspension, new brakes and a lighter comportment — as well as a few interior tweaks and 19" alloys. The horsepower increase is expected to improve zero-to-60 times from 3.8 seconds to 3.6 seconds, while the rest of the improvements are strictly to keep Paris Hilton's American Express Onyx card from getting too comfortable.
