Mercedes announced it was building an homage to the 1955 Mille Miglia winner "722" 300 SLR (numbered for its start time of 7:22 am) driven by Stirling Moss. The "722 Edition" SLR gets a 650hp version of the AMG-built 5.5-liter V8, which gives it an advantage over the base model (how base is it really?) of two tenths of a second (3.6 seconds) and a top speed of 209 mph. Plus, it's got a "tailor-made" (i.e., stiffer) suspension — over 19" alloys — larger brakes and a "decidedly" sporty interior, among other adjectives.
