Supervan 2 to Get Disembowled, Jalopnik Unhappy

Cripes. We're about to march across the United States, ford the North Atlantic, and roll heads over at Ford Europe. Some numbskull has decided that the stillborn C100 racer chassis underneath the Supervan 2 is somehow more important than the coolest van this side of B.A.'s GMC. As such, the Transit bodyshell will be removed and the vehicle will be restored to its original form for vintage competition. But who gives a flying toss about a Group C car that never turned a wheel in anger? We have a freaking Supervan Matchbox car. We beg of you, Ford, do not do this. Do so, and we will cut you. On a winter day in the mid '80s, at a great toy shop in Baltimore's Harborplace, I spent my month's allowance on the Supervan 2 and RS200 Matchbox cars.

I was 9 years old, and decided that day that NASCAR (and the domestic auto industry) sucked donkey balls.

The ride back home in Dad's '82 Berlinetta (Camaro, that is) was a long one.

perhaps this destruction needs to happen, this may another one of those acts that bring our long denied love of vans to a boil.

I will alwyas have issues with the modern "conversion van" driven by a specific deomgraphic...

But i have first hand experience with the rolling freedon that is a custom van, even in the face of my peers mocking.
