Over the Back Fence: Toyota to Build Hybrid LF-A?

According to the UK's Autocar Toyota's working on a version of its upcoming LF-A supercar that's powered by the company's Hybrid Synergy Drive system. The move was telegraphed back in 2004, when Toyota unveiled its hybrid-drive Alessandro Volta supercar at the Paris motor show in 2004.

Now, word is the gas-electric LF-A would get a 435-hp version of the same system that powers the Prius and coming Lexus LS600h. In fact, it'll have the same configuration of the LS600h: 5.0-liter V8 linked to dual electric motors, battery pack and CVT transmission. In the lighter and more aerodynamically slippery LF-A, however, performance will be heightened to a zero-to-60 mph range of under four seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. All-wheel drive is also a possibility.
