Were you interested in buying Michael Jackson's Neverland GMC Fire Engine when the now-deceased King of Pop put it up for auction in April, then canceled it? Our guess is you'll get a second shot. Macabre thoughts? Sure. [Julien's Auctions]

Jalopnik's 2009 Pickup Truck Comparison Head-To-Head Jubilee Event Challenge Spectacular!

We've had an abnormally high number of pickup truck first drives recently — the 2009 Ford F-150, the 2008 Toyota Tundra, the 2009 Chevy Silverado and the 2009 Dodge Ram. Why? Because we've been working in conjunction with PickupTrucks.com to bring you a full blown comparison on the 2009 models of every half-ton truck currently for sale in the 'merican market and here it is. It's got all the numbers on towing, handling, braking and acceleration — everything a serious truck buyer could ever need. Frankly, that's the easy part. The subjective determination of which one's the best? That's harder to nail down, but it's what we're here for. More »

GMC Truck Plus Lincoln Premiere: Because You Can!

This is Down On The Street Bonus Edition, where we check out interesting street-parked cars located in places other than the Island That Rust Forgot. Say over here you've got a late-50s Lincoln Premiere that's totally wrecked in front, and over there you've got a GMC truck with a bashed-in rear. You could do the boring thing and part them out or something, but the owner of this fine automobile decided to join the two good halves! Sure, it's completely ridiculous, but the workmanship appears to be pretty good and it's most definitely not the same old thing. 2010 GMC Sierra HD Spied Sporting A Minor Refresh

The guys at Pickuptrucks.com have snagged some shots of a 2010 GMC Sierra HD pickup in dually chassis-cab configuration. The most obvious change is in the grille area, where a honeycomb three-bar motif dominates, but overall the refresh is pretty minor. Rumors of a more-powerful Duramax available under the hood, possibly with urea injection for NOx emissions reduction, continue, helping Sierras so-equipped to meet the tough Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions regulations. No word on how long a tank of pee will last, though. We're not looking forward to finding jugs of that on the wall at the discount parts store. [Pickuptrucks.com]

    The GMC Motorhome: A Retrospective

It's been 30 years since a GMC Motorhome last rolled off the production line in Pontiac, MI, and the RV geeks at SQUOB have assembled a collection of ads, images and commentary to celebrate. This icon of the 1970s was piloted by everyone from Barbie to Captain America and revolutionized the RV industry with its FWD Toronado-based powertrain. The recession of the late '70s killed the GMC Motorhome off after just six years of production, but collectors and a cult following have ensured that many of the 13,000 units produced are still on the road. We'll take ours in malaise brown and green, please. [SQUOB]

GM Considering Sale Of Medium-Duty Truck Division To Isuzu

According to Automotive News, GM is planning to sell its medium-duty commercial truck division to Isuzu (Ed. Note to Automotive News: "Medium-Duty" is not the same thing as "Mid-Size." Please make a note of this. Thanks!). According to Isuzu representatives, they have not been contacted by General Motors regarding the possible deal, but said they would respond positively to the prospect. The news comes after Navistar backed out of a deal on GM medium-duty trucks which would mirror the sale of the Ford commercial truck division to Sterling in 1997, though GM is in a considerably different financial situation now than the big blue oval was back in the 90's. GM has of course had a long term relationship with Isuzu in the heavy truck business, even sharing ownership with Isuzu on the DMAX diesel plant in Ohio. More »

UPS Truck Turns Over A Million Miles In 22 Years

The odometer on Bret Boyd's big brown 1987 GMC rolled over to show all zeros recently. It was just another routine day in the same vehicle he's been behind the wheel of for his 22 years — as a UPS driver in East Texas. During that time the truck has reportedly gone through at least three engines and been repainted the same number of times, though we suppose it's hard not to lose count. What makes the GMC's longevity even more admirable is not just that the truck has never been in an accident during all that time, but also that Boyd has declined a new replacement vehicle. He prefers to just stick with ol' reliable, saying the truck feels "like home... sitting in the recliner in your house." [DallasNews] (Thanks Travis!)

GM Offering 12-Month, 12,000-Mile Bumper-To-Bumper Warranty On Certified Used Cars

The program doesn't extend to Hummer, Cadillac or Saab, each of whom offer a comprehensive used-car warranty program that is almost better than the new Saab warranty. Chevy, GMC Reveal XFE Versions Of Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe And Yukon For 2009

GM's just revealed a whole messload of details on their newest members of the GMT-900-based full-size SUV and truck lineup — the 2009 Chevy Silverado XFE, 2009 Chevy Tahoe XFE, 2009 GMC Sierra XFE and lastly, the 2009 GMC Yukon XFE. What's XFE? It stands for Xtra Fuel Economy and the four relative fuel-sippers join the already class-leading Chevy Cobalt XFE as vehicles GMs achieved added wallet-padding using a combination of mechanical, aerodynamic and mass-reducing enhancements. The tweaks help to deliver a 5% increase in EPA-estimated highway fuel economy and more than 7% improved mileage in city driving. They achieve 15 city and 21 highway mileage ratings versus comparable non-XFE models' 14/20 ratings. The XFE designation is only available on 2WD vehicles equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 mated to a six-speed transmission. But we're told they're able to accomplish the fuel economy bump without a knock to towing ratings. The Tahoe and Yukon are unchanged, while the Silverado and Sierra increase from 6,600 pounds to 7,000 pounds due to the new, six-speed transmission and high-capacity cooling package. Still with us? Good. Hit the jump for our take. More »

1968 GMC 2500, With Bonus GM Pickup Poll

While Alameda has a pretty nice beach on its Bay side (though with waves best measured in inches rather than feet), I haven't really been checking for interesting cars parked along the shoreline. That's because the section of the island near the San Francisco Bay is mostly landfill dating from the 1950s, which means the residents in the area tend to have garages for their collectible rides. However, you still see the occasional work truck parked in front of one of the big Polynesian-themed apartment buildings along the shore, and thus I was able to shoot this 40-year-old 3/4-ton survivor. Honda Ridgeline The GM Truck Of The Future?

After disclosing yesterday that the GMT900 full-size truck/SUV platform will likely last beyond its original 2012 expiration date, a new report says that future trucks may appear on the Lambda platform. Using Lambda, the foundation for current GM SUVs such as the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, would mark a shift away from body-on-frame pickup construction, since Lambda uses a lighter-weight unit-body chassis — think Honda Ridgeline. Ironhide Spotted With Can-Am Spyder, Motorcycle

More details regarding everyone's favorite movie sequel trickle in by the day. We know that filming is set to begin next week in the Philadelphia area and Ironhide, better known as the GMC Topkick, was spotted en route to the location for filming. The interesting item to note is what was being hauled along with Ironhide. A motorcycle was spotted in the bed of the truck as well as a Can-Am Spyder being hauled alongside. We could get all excited speculating about whether the motorcycle and Can-Am Spyder are miniature Transformers, but they're probably just props or stunt vehicles for the less robotic stars of Transformers 2. 2010 GMC Terrain

Here's the very first shots of the General's upcoming Theta-based crossover that's all about being "Professional Grade" — the 2010 GMC Terrain. The Terrain's showing a big block-like grille peeking through the semi-transparent bra it's wearing. Our spy shooters even indicate they believe the mesh you see surrounding said badge may in fact be indicative of a Denali trim. All we know is the Terrain will be kissing cousins to the Vue, and the next-generation 2010 Chevy Equinox. Also, it looks mind-numbingly boring. New A-Team Movie Given Green Light, Status Of GMC Van Unknown

A little part of our inner child just leapt for joy as we've just found out the long rumored movie adaptation of a new A-Team movie has been given the official go ahead. The new movie will have a speculative release date sometime in summer of 2009 and the entire cast of colorful characters is completely open for casting. The only things we know for sure are that John Singleton's in the directors chair, and Michael Bandt and Derek Haas have been tasked with the writing. All portend good signs so we're fairly hopeful the result will be something good — or at least better than the horror that was the new Knight Rider made-for-TV movie. GM's media fleet people claimed they had the right vehicle for us. I was skeptical, but from the moment this GMT-900-bodied beast of burden showed up at my front step I found there to be one truism about the Yukon Denali. We don't want to give too much away, but needless to say GMC products did not fair well. If you didn't see the exposition, you may wonder how KITT manages to survive such a powerful impact. One word: Nanorobots.
