Porsche dropped some b-roll of its latest widowmaker, the lightweight 911 GT2, destined for unveiling tomorrow at the Frankfurt Messe. The world's motoring press and a few close friends will get the first up-close look at the first stock 200-mph+ 911, powered by a turbocharged 3.6-liter boxer six with Porsche's VarioCam and variable-turbine setup producing 530 hp at 6500 rpm and 505 lb-ft of torque at 2,200-4,500 rpm. Curb weight is a stripped 3,175 lbs, totaling to a power-to-weight ratio of 5.99 lbs/hp. and 3.6 seconds to 60 mph. Don't expect to see a strenuous workout in the latest company-supplied video. Apparently the bond-trader protagonist is just blowing off a little steam after losing the Drüker account (actually, it's German ex-rallyist Walter Rohrl).

yes, yes that is nice, but how many cup holders and burger trays does it have to appeal to your average NA fatty?
Oh god if I had a car like that, no food, drink, smoking, crumbs, or anything else would ever come near it. I'd have a whole separate car for hitting the drive through or grocery shopping. Want.
Silver's the wrong color for this mayhem-mobile. A dark red or black is more appropriate, and will help hide that ugly wing out back.
I want one now! I agree, the wrong color... but black is the worst color for a Porsche... Porsches should be white or any bright color.
@brandegee: Yep, that wing is hideous. But "first rule of Italian, um, er, I mean German racing...whatsa behind us doesn'ta matter".
Why does the gt3 rs get the wild paint treatment, and this is so boring? GT2rs?!?! A silver with orange (and orange wheels) gt3rs always shows up at the track, and that's what a flagship track car should look like.
I think it's a pretty but dumb car that could be so much more - for example, if it was a Cayman, with a fancy undertray, rear diffuser and LSD.
Hanging the engine out back is objectively worse over most driving regimes (it's probably better under braking because the rear wheels can be used more effectively) and Porsche knows it.

@brandegee, @cgates1: I've seen worse. Much worse.
