So we're hearing negotiators at the United Nations climate talks in Bali agreed to U.S. demands, dropping specific targets on greenhouse-gas emissions from a draft document in order to salvage an agreement that will guide discussions on a global-warming treaty over the next two years. Specifically, the target changes were pushed by Germany. Hmm, we're thinking maybe there's an automaker twisting arms behind the scene. Our guess is in this round the score is: Porsche, 1. Gore, 0. Who's got next? (Hat tip to Brian W!) [Bloomberg]

In the end, it may very well be, auto industry with its big wallet, 1 and the inhabitants of the world 0. It is a shame that the stupid and greedy hold the world hostage.
Apparently Gore sang an Eric Cartman favorite...
I will do the German Dance for you,
It's fun and gay and tra-la-la.
Hope you will enjoy my dance,
Fidla, fidla, yay.
Would you like some Sauerkraut?
German boy, German boy,
Yes I'd like some Sauerkraut
@blondnga: Its more like common sense 1, lunatic socialist greens 0.
Sorry, but these so-called 'global warming' treaties are nothing more than thinly-veiled attempts to subjugate the US economy and set a precedent for world government and taxation via the UN.
Stock up on guns, because believe me when I tell you that if they get their way, you're going to need them.
@Atelier: I knew I needed an excuse for a Glock and perhaps an AR-15.
@BraappBraapp: I'm right behind you!
well you are more than welcome to your uneducated paranoid self righteous inbred world then atlelier. you have no common sense..for you care nothing about anyone except your own personal greed.
@Atelier:
I think that tin foil hat may be cutting off some badly needed blood flow/oxygen.
@Atelier: Stock up on guns? How can you possibly take aim when your head is stuck so deep up your... no wait, so deep in the sand. Thank god your form of common sense is not so common these days.
@clinto: You think it's that crazy? The EU is already got europe.
Speaking of taxes, ever seen that BBC miniseries "Clarkson Meets the Neighbors". The episode where he goes to Spain. He talks about the taxes that the UK puts in, spain gets the exact amount out. "I'm not paying tolls on a road I already paid for"
@BraappBraapp: what the hell are you talking about? The EU IS europe.
my head hurts
And still the huddled masses live their lives, blissfully unaware of the political wars raging.
@Da5idRicardo: Really? I thought it was a governing organization. Europe is still quite a few separate countries last time I checked.
@BraappBraapp: If anything, a federation - not really government. However, you miss the point. Europe is what it is today as a result of common policies and open exchange of goods, services etc. Without this, I do not think the individual economies of Europe would be as strong, nor would european companies be able to compete as well as they currently do (and let's face it, many could do much better!).
To your earlier point, that "The EU is already got europe" - it is europe that already 'got' EU. Any country can withdraw at any time. Do they want to? No! Why? because it works for the national and regional economy.
This thread reminds me of the banjo playing boy in Deliverance the movie.
