The spy photographers of KGP snagged some shots of the upcoming 2009 Cadillac CTS-V completely in the buff ( the shots are better even than our earlier shots we're not afraid to say) — and let's just say the super-Caddy's looking sleek as all get-out. But the looks are less important than what's under the hood. Will it be the normally aspirated LS7 V8 or will it be a supercharged 6.2-liter V8? Sources at the General are coy on the issue but the expectation is it'll still have upwards of 525 HP. We're thinking we'll be finding out in the next couple of weeks before the Detroit Auto Show in mid-January where we're expecting an official unveiling. But for the time being, we'll always have these Edmunds shots, won't we?

Nyay! Cadillac spy shots sponsored by Subaru!
You know what? As I type this, I'm looking up at that Subaru WRX STI ad between every second word. The plain-jane WRX may have gone a bit wimpy, but that STI is a mean-looking machine.
Oh, sorry. This was about Cadillac, wasn't it?
@Heep: well wait a sec
I was just about to comment that the regular CTS has some big flared wheel wells but they made them even bigger on the V and it looks positively mean
just like the WRX and the STi...
@Heep: @yellofury: You guys are hilarious. No, seriously, my sides...my sides...right.
@Ray Wert: Just playin' around! Don't you just love us early morning bottom-feeders?
Although I must say, I'm still captivated by that ad. For Jalopnik's sake, I shall click it a few times.
i think black is the new blue for the Subie
and yes I just had my coffee and it shows
uh oh gotta go to the mens room
That STI is stealin everyone's thunder.
Now back to this CTS, I want one. I hope the pricing undercuts the M3, RS4, IS-F.
@rlj676: That STI isn't stealing the thunder away from this CTS-V. What's the interweb lingo I'm looking for here? Oh, yes. DO WANT!
Swap the silver front grille for a black one and I'm sold...
Put it out on the ring so we can see the huge amounts of body roll and understear....
@MagnificentBastard:
What the hell is understear?
Check out that side profile. That is pretty sweet. I'm hoping for 525hp.
For some reason, I think the regular CTS looks much better.
Again...proof reading will now become the #1 priority.
@coaster.n3rd: Udders are understear. So are cow pies.
The polygons and creases are so 80s CGI. Love it. Looking forward to the huge/quad pipes in the production version; considering most people will be seeing that view, it's good to flash some chrome at losers in their M5s [end flamebait].
@labcoatguy: Im not falling into that trap.
The front fenders on the STi are just so awesomely boy racer, amazing how much better this looks than the WRX.
Oh wait, what's this thread about?
@benztown: Funny part is when I visited my Caddy dealer, I found that the cheapest of the CTS variants was the most appealing. All that navigation stuff and fancy radio ju-ju stuff that did nothing to improve the sound just muddied the water of a great driving experience of the spirited rear drive model.
Never thought I was the entry level kinda guy but this was a true first.
When I'm old and rich and retire to Fort Lauderdale, I'm going to organise a blue-rinse touring car championship. A bunch of CTS-Vs' will do just fine.
I'm joking! Again! If they can give it some kind of reasonable interior fit and finish it might even have a chance as an export....
And now the the Jalopnik KGP Cadillac Spy Photo Extravaganza™, Sponsored by Subaru
SUPER BRANDING IMPLOSION POTENTIAL!
Also, 500-something hp Caddy, apparently designed by the same people who did the F-117?
Yes please.
Pretty clever how the, in the STI image above, the fenders look like the haunches of a crouching tiger. [www1.istockphoto.com]
@Bumblebee: Bah! Lose that first "the."
@Bumblebee and Mad_Science: Me too.
However fast that it may go, that Subaru in the ad is pretty fugly. Actually, in the interest of using a more descriptive term, it is "ill-proportioned".
Im just putting it out there, this subi ad on spy shots is really, annoying.
But my god, this cadi has BALLS. BIG, SOLID, TITANIUM BALLS. Gone is the semi-sleeper looks of the last CTS-V, I love it.
I just realized why it looked so familiar: [www.nytimes.com]
Link goes to STS-V review.
I only want it if I can get that snakeskin /cubist front end effect paint job. For that post post-modern look.
That is a freaking nice car.
Thank god that will come in the pearlecent white.
Is that Rick and Kate in the car??
