Lots of madness tucked into SEMA's nooks and crannies. To wit: the 789. Built on the bones of a C6 Corvette, the 789 is a style mashup of the 1957 Chevy, 1959 Chevy and 1958 Impala created by California design firm N2A (no two alike) Motors. (See, kids. Never smoke angel dust while you're thumbing through an issue of Car Craft). Want one? It'll cost around $40,000 over the price of a new C6 (MSRP ~$44,000). [Gallery]

I thought the front was nice, but I think I puked a little when I saw the rear end.
Dear god this is hideous, especially the ass end.
All together kids: Money Can't Buy Taste.
What did that poor Corvette do to deserve this?
Something like this always makes me wonder why guys with great fabrication/design skills don't do something, like, original.
Quick, someone make the goggles joke.
Hey - and you can do it youself!! Well... if you want a Ford..
Sorry for the long links, but you should really see the pics before you got the website. I've seen one of these up close, and while the T-Bird version is okay, the Cougar version is just all wrong...

Ive seen the T-bird version, and it isn't too bad, but the Cougar version I saw (red with flames) just blows chunks.
Check out their website - http://www.EasyRods.com
Dork boy here can't seem to wait for the comment to load... Sorry :-(
I thought the front was soooo hot before I clicked the link. Then I saw the ass end and everything else. Good god that's an aweful lot of ugly! Seriously though, the picture on the main page is stunning...too bad it's like your typical Myspace picture. Hot until you get full body shot.
It's like a Thunderbird smashed into the Batmobile and Robin decorated the interior.
This car give me some mixed feelings. I think the craftsmanship looks pretty good and the work itself is impressive. However, to sacrifice a Corvette like that makes me cry.
I thought the POO1 was bad
Dear Sir,
Thanks for the write -up, trust you enjoyed SEMA
I am the Chairman of n2a motors and you gave our president Gene Langmesser a card at SEMA. The turn key price is $135,000 which is $80,000 ver the base corvette price. Plese correct this as news travels fast on the internet, incorrect news even faster.
If you really want a cool new retro car for the retiring baby boomers or the cool car crowd, why not a design based on the 1955 Chrysler Falcon. Yes a Chrysler Falcon ! Only 3 were built, it was a competition-type sport roadster built on a unit construction principal and would have given the Chevy Corvette a run for it's money with a small Hemi under the hood. Still bugs me why in the world they canned it .....maybe Ford said "Falcon" was theirs.
Obviously most negatives about the rear end are from non 50's. It is a 59 chevy rear and the car is absolutely gorgeous all around. Kudos to the creator, designer & builders. It looks fantastic.
Looks great. Wish I could have one.
I can't believe some of you hate this car so much. I own a '58 chevy and love the classics. This blend of the '57 - '58 - '59 Chevy is a beautiful retro blend and if I could afford one it would already be ordered. Those of you that hated the rear end probably hated the '59 chevy, a car that I also love. N2A MOTORS took the stylings of the three best and most popular years of Chevrolet and produced a real head turner. GREAT JOB N2A MOTORS !!!
This car is beautiful, albeit a tad overpriced. However for those of you who are calling the rear end treatment "butt-ugly" and saying you "threw up a bit" is just asinine. The whole point of the car is to look retro. Before making idiotic comments, why not look at the three years of Chevys that this car is borrowing design elements from? As Mark Twain is credited for saying......"Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."
Well to all the negative commentators..you just to darn young! Anyone who thinks the rear end of a '59 is ugly should stick with the squared off junk they are building today.
Only us old guys can appreciate a car like this. By the way. the only thing worth saving from the '58 was the small detail on the side of the car. Now that was one ugly car! I know, I owned one!
