To celebrate 50 years in the US market, Volkswagen unveiled a modified ragtop version of its Beetle yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show. Designed at VW's California studio, the Ragster looks like a traditional Beetle ragtop fathered by a Porsche Speedster (get it, Rag-ster), sporting a lowered roofline, fender flares, larger rims and tires and racing stripes. It also rides four inches lower to the ground than a standard Beetle. Designers are being sought for questioning.
