Ford to Show GT Concept Roadster at SEMA

Ford will show off a new concept GT, an homage to the 1965 Ford GT40 X1. Dubbed the GTX1, the concept — shown in the artist's rendering, pictured — will be the anchor of the company's SEMA display, which will include several tuner Fusions and a 400hp Mustang on a dynamometer, in which visitors can do simulated quarter-mile runs. The GT40 X1 of the mid-sixties started as an all-aluminum racing prototype powered by Ford's 427 ci V8. After an unsuccessful racing career in the mid-1960s, the open-top X1 was used as a test mule for Ford's racing engines and other components.
