This is more of a second order tuning package (Mustang+Shelby= GT500, GT500+Shelby!= Super Snake), which puts it in the (relativly) numerous companies of tweakified Mercedes', 911s, Corvettes, etc.

Bury one under the courthouse lawn, then I'll be interested.

Saw about 15 'stangs in the last 2 days. Two were driven by guys.

With 725 hp, you dnt have many choices. The strongest rear ends out there are solid axles. In this car, it can handle on a track well too.

Of course, don't expect it to burn up the 'ring like a Porsche.

I can think of 4 production cars w/ 700+ hp
-Ferrari FXX 790hp
-Koenigsegg CCX 806 hp
-Maybach Exelero 700 hp
-Bugatti Veyron 1001 hp
And close behind(my personal favorite) the Pagani Zonda F w/ 680hp. All, which have an extreme price tag.

But back to the Mustang, this car w/ that much horsepower is just stupid. This car is to heavy to handle or brake well. And even if you did take this car somewhere where you can drive over 100mph, it has the aerodynamic profile of a brick, and no matter how much horsepower you have without proper downforce you can't put that power on the road or drive the car around a corner. Shelby picked the wrong car do do this with, the GT would have been a much better choice, and then left the Mustang around 400 hp.

to retiree - did you say a Mustang is a chick car? wow, that's a first. the mustang is the manliest of muscle cars... sounds to me like you're a bit jealous. i have an '07 GT and let me tell you, not many chicks could handle the 300+ HP it delivers. how could one handle 725? what are you driving?

I'll accept that a live rear axle is necessary to channel that much power to the ground when I see Brabus bolting them into their 210mph Benzrockets.

@danio3834: If the venerable Carroll Shelby expects drivers to fork over an extra $40k over a stock Mustang, you'd think he's be able to design a rear suspension that both handled the horsepower AND kept the tires on the asphalt. There is absolutely no reason to have 700 hp under the hood if you can't put it to the street.

This is most definitly NOT a "girls" car!!! Most women i see driving mustangs are driving the 6 cyl. My money is that they are stock and also have never been "driven" the way a stang is suppose to be drivin. You also have to factor in the "i drive a stang" part of it. I am a woman and i own a 78 original cobra II . She is being rebuilt and body resto'ed right now but i hope when she is done she has the get up and go that i love! For me personally 700hp may be a bit much but for my hubby he would love it!

You all are a giant bunch of car retards. Why has "street racing" become the norm? Drag racing(that's 1/4 mile in a straight line for you younger folks) is still a viable tell of a car's performance. I own a 2007 GT 500 and I'll take on all comers in a drag race. I'll also contend that if you put two more seats and a real trunk in a vette the Mustang wins in 4th gear. Then we can bring up HP vs Displacement, which for whatever reason I never see talked about. I'll give you the vette doesn't have the blower, but 500 hp out of 5.4L compared to the GIANT wastes of space in those others....I'm just sayin'...

@BigRon: for the love of GOD, 72,000 thats it!!! For 84,000 you only get 510 HP in the Dodge Viper, this is one heck of a deal!!! the corvette is cheaper 66k but with only 505 HP... 725 HP for 72,000 well I know where my life savings is going now!!!

And for the rest of you who think that this car doesnt "look" right or is just another after market tuned mustang need to research a little bit of the history behind the Super Snake. This isnt the first time this badge has graced the sheetmetal of a mustang. Caroll Shelby is a Genius and an icon in the muscle car world.
