Turbo Omni! Turbo Daytona! Turbo Lancer! Turbo Charger! Turbo everything! The Man In The Cowboy Hat loved him some turbocharged front-wheel-drive Chryslers back in the 80s. Say what you will about cheesy 80s turboness- and the soundtrack to this ad is more painfully 80s than your set of Iran-Contra Trading Cards- the Omni GLHS has our Stamp-o-Approval.

I own one of the '87s. It was actually a Shelby, not a badge engineered one like these. Road and Track did a comparison back in the day, and the CSX won.
Lest we also forget the 1989 Top Speed test where the 1989 Shelby CSX-VNT pulled 156mph. Not bad for a 175hp SOHC turbocharged and intercooled 4-cylinder.
Here's are a few more interesting articles:

We need another mainstream manufacturer to turbo damn well near everything they make (hell, that'd justify Pontiac's existence).
*cough*Subaru*cough*
All these cars were pretty good performance for their day. Most under rated probably the Shelby Lancer
@danio3834: Once they got them some intercoolers, that is. Too bad they didn't make a Shelby New Yorker, my mom went through too many piston rings with the "hot" turbo setup.
They probably should've turbo'd everything. I still remember the C&D test of the Sundance America model. They said it would just do the ton, but with enough high-speed thrum to knock out your eardrums.
My vote is for a Plymouth Scamp retrofitted with the full CSX treatment
