Porsche Carrera GT Takes A Tumble In Spain
Is the Porsche Carrera GT the new Enzo? No, not performance, rather in the desire of owners to crack 'em up 'round curves. Exhibit A: Autogespot's shots of a Carrera GT crashed in Marbella, Spain. More » -

Hong Kong Parking Deck Offers A Dubai-Like Display Of Wealth
We wouldn't blame you for mistaking this parking deck for a Sheiklet's playground in Abu Dhabi. This deck in Hong Kong holds some of the world's most exclusiveironaluminum, including a Porsche Carrera GT, a few Lamborghinis and a Ferrari Enzo. It seems as if China is doing a better job of Saving the Enzos than we are back in the States. See if you can name every car in the clip - you'll get some helpful, if slightly misleading, assistance from our intrepid narrators. (Hat tip to Jamie!) [VideoSift] -

Trick Or Treat: Toyota MR2 In Porsche Carrera GT Costume
This Toyota MR2 dressed to look like a Porsche Carrera GT isn't going to trick anybody. It may have Porsche badges glued on, but they're not enough to distract you from the sickening proportions and ridiculous build quality. We haven't seen a supercar kit this bad since the Fierrari Enzo. The Porsche costume is mounted on a salvage-title 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder with a modest 138 HP 1.8-liter four-banger. So how much would you pay for such an exotic motor vehicle? Well, the current bid is $12,000...but the reserve hasn't even been met. More » -

Porsche Carrera GT Suffers Death By Teenager
This one comes to us from the offices of intrepid commenter Drachen, who chatted up the driver of this flatbed after seeing its cargo — the remains of a Porsche Carrera GT in an Atlanta-area parking lot. According to the driver, he'd just pulled an all-nighter driving from Miami to Atlanta to deliver the car to the shipping docks so it could be crated and sent back to Germany. Seems the car was destroyed at the hands of — you guessed it — a teenager, and on prom night, no less. More » -

F1 Star Lewis Hamilton's Dad Crashes Porsche Carrera GT, Shows He's Like Son
Yes, perhaps the old adage of "like father, like son" is actually true. We all know how much Lewis Hamilton loves the Porsches, right? We also know how much he loves diving head first into the walls too. Enter Anthony Hamilton, his father and manager. He was just out having some fun with his wife in a loaned silver Porsche Carrera GT yesterday in jolly good England, when he "lost control of the 205mph £330,000 ($643,600) supercar just after he left home with wife Linda yesterday."
The Sun continues the story after the jump. More » -

Porsche Plutocracy: Test Driving the Gemballa Mirage GT
Sometimes we wish we were Jocke "Qvarnis" Qvarnström. Usually it's just for having a name with a Q and a V in it. This time it's for getting a crack at the 672 hp V10 Gemballa Mirage GT. His exploits made for an umlaut-heavy piece in Swedish mag StreetXtreme, but the video is up on the 'Tube for all to survey. We're so going to take Swedish lessons, and not for the language. More » -

Nelson's Balkan Campaign: Athens to Tirana
For once on the Gumball, I woke up in a bed. After a long day's journey into night and Athens, Herr Roy decided he wanted to be as close as possible to the M5 and booked a block of rooms at the Sofitel in Athens, rather than taking his room at the Hilton. A French cameraman was booked into the M5 for the day, riding rear-seat shotgun next to a spare wheel and Ross and Roy's excess baggage. Alex texted me to invite me down for breakfast with Fly and Jarod DeAnda. The morning was quiet and jovial, highlighted by Alex and I engaging in an impromptu game of Star Wars trivia one-upmanship that left Fly and Jarod gobsmacked at the sheer geekery. Then the text came in: the cars were ready to go. More » -

That'll Buff Right Out: Redline Porsche Carrera GT for Sale on eBay
Say what you will about, "Redline," Daniel Sadek's vehicle for his vehicles and for his former fiancee, Nadia Bjorlin, but it sure created a helluva market for carbon fiber replacement parts. Notwithstanding the Ferrari Enzo ended by actor Eddir Griffin, two of Sadek's Porsche Carrera GTs were damaged during filming, one irreparably and one that's been beaten like a Swingline. The latter GT recently hit the eBay block. The reserve is unknown, but $100,000 won't cut it. According to the seller, the car runs fine, but needs the following: Front bumper cover, left front brake rotor, left front wheel, front and rear under trays, LR axle and a few miscellaneous gewgaws. That at $5,000 per gew, and $2500 per gaw. [Thanks to Dave for the tip.] More » -

Carrera GT Cracked Up on the 'Ring
Des of GTSpirit was out for a leisurely drive on the N rburgring earlier today with a friend in a Gallardo when they came 'round a bend and noticed this Porsche Carrera GT off the track. While the bodywork emerged largely unscathed, note the rather excessive negative camber of the supercar's rear wheels. Touch it, feel it, Green Hell! More » -

Try That with an Enzo: Gemballa Mirage GT
What makes some exotics tuneable, and others off limits? Though the Carrera GT is now just another discontinued hypersports car, like the Ferrari Enzo and Ford GT, those of means treat it like an amusement park. Unlike the Enzo, there's no shame in tweaking out a $400,000 Carrera GT to within an inch of its existence — money being mere paper goods to some. Take Gemballa's Mirage GT, built for the customary Arab gazillionaire. With engine tuning (and a new hi-po exhaust) boosting horsepower to 650, more carbon fiber and tire rubber than an F1 paddock, and an interior slathered in alcantara and red leather, the million-dollar custom-order jobbie, you could say, is pretty decked out. Would an Enzo owner do something like that? Oh yeah, I guess he would. [UPDATE: The Mirage GT concept was to have been turbo- or supercharged to the tune of 1,000 hp. This is the WP Black Edition, which uses a similar body kit but is far less mad, at 650 hp.] More » -

Carrera GT Crash Update
Alex over at Autoblog met up with Mark Starr — the photographer of the slightly-dinged Carrera GT — and found out some interesting nuggets of how it all went down. The driver, an apparently very wealthy man who made it out with only a broken foot, apparently turned around and bought his friend another GT the next day. One with fewer miles on the odo than the one he cracked up. We would like to have that amount of money, please. Yes, yes we would. More » -

I Wanna Be Like Enzo! Carrera GT Attempts to Eat Pole, Fails
Hot on the heels of the Suleiman Kerimov/female passenger/Ferrari Enzo/Promenade des Anglais crash comes this Carrera GT single-car pileup in what we glean to be New York. Sheikh Your Moneymaker: Gemballa Mirage GT Concept for Sale in Dubai
And we didn't even known Porsche tuner Gemballa actually built the Mirage GT concept, which up to know only seemed to exist as a few static digitally enhanced images on the company's site. Now, it seems royals in Dubai, flush from their real estate and trade holdings, can grab a Mirage with both hands. The kitted-out Porsche GT reportedly gets from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds, and boasts a theoretical top speed of around 250 mph. Just the thing for doing doughnuts outside the Emirate In-n-Out burger. Orange You Glad: TechArt Tunes the Porsche Carrera GT
Porsche twiddlers, TechArt worked up a metallic-orange, carbon-fiber'd beast of the erstwhile Porsche Carrera GT. The eyeball-straining color is offset by exposed carbon-fiber body components, while an added front spoiler creeps ever closer to the tarmac. That'll help control the ever-so-much more lift created by a horsepower boost to 635 hp by way of a new air intake and performance exhaust. Inside, there's a sport steering wheel with leather/carbon fiber rim and a shifter made from exposed carbon fiber. Buyers willing to futz with their GTs can also choose from a range of colors and upholstery options. We'd go with the llama skin and antelope-hoof accents. That's how we roll. [Gallery] More » -

Unsafe at High Speed: Porsche Sued by Widow
We think this is a bigger pile of crap than hundreds of Opel Kadetts stacked into a replica of the tower of Babel. The widow of a man killed in an on-track accident as a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT is suing the car's driver, the track (California Speedway) and Porsche over his death. Bear in mind, the driver shed this mortal coil as well. Nobody held a gun to the guy's head and forced him to go to a track day. More » -

They Don't Shoot 605 Horses, Do They? The Carrera GT is Dead
Porsche has announced that the last of the nearly-1300 Carrera GTs has rolled off its Leipzig line in a post-Cinco-de-Mayo hangover. We've never heard any less-than-stellar reports of the vehicle, but to at least one of us, the GT was nothing more than a technical marvel. It didn't invite us to get in and drive it, as the Ford GT or Lamborghini Murcielago did. One reporter's opinion, fo' shizzle, but we'll probably look back in five years and kick ourselves for not attempting to get a ride in one. We'll miss her, though we barely knew her. Between the Lines: Motor Trend on Leno's Record-Setting Spin
As far as the automotive press is concerned, Jay Leno is the gift that keeps on giving. The Tonight Show host is endlessly, relentlessly generous with both his time and his [large] jaw-dropping collection of exotic, vintage and mutant motors. To say Leno s pithy munificence has been endlessly exploited by doting car hacks would be like wondering if pre-pubescent Persian carpet makers would benefit from union representation. A quick search of Motor Trend s Web site reveals more than a dozen Leno-inclusive features. So, when Porsche approached Motor Trend with yet another JL-based idea, the temptation to file the request under DTD (Done to Death) must have been immense. Unfortunately, they resisted. More » -

Drag Night in Dubai
Drag night in Dubai is like an all-you-can-eat buffet at Chanterelle (non-NY residents insert high-priced restaurant of your choice here). Relatives of the ruling Al-Maktoum family, and other well-heeled souls, dispatch an army of flatbeds to cart in their Enzos, Carrera GTs and SLRs, like so many '71 Novas at Englishtown. Lines of Ford GTs, Ariel Atoms, tuner Cayennes and Callaway Corvettes snake from parking lot to drag strip, forming what could be the most expensive lineup since the Monaco Cow Parade. Plus, one guy with a Honda S2000 and a digicam to record the whole business for the rest of us. [Thanks to Christo for the tip.] More » -

Porsche Tuner Becomes Supercar Builder
Porsche tuning house and RUF-rival 9ff is building an all-new 900hp supercar based on the 911's powertrain. The mid-engined 9F-GTI, as it's known in production, will be powered by a four-liter version of Porsche's 3.6-liter flat-six, and will utilize a tubular spaceframe created by 9ff engineers. No word on what such an animal would look like, though a riff on the Carrera GT wouldn't be unlikely — possibly like the AutoBild spec job, pictured. More »
