According to GM, hybrid-drive cars for Saab and Opel are on the way. And by "way," it likely means late this decade for Opel and early next decade for Saab, according to Automotive News. The new gas-electrics will show up in the next generation of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 models, which are due to first arrive in 2008 — with hybrid models following along. The system could be be a variation of the two-mode hybrid sytem GM is developing jointly with BMW Group and DaimlerChrysler. Of course we (and everyone else who cares) wonder if the finshed product will look anything like this.
