Jeesh, if last Friday was "Maximum Mopar Day" then today's like "Accord-ion Monday" or something. We know we just dropped those spy shots of the V6-powered 2008 Accord, but right after, we received these spy photos of the new 2008 Honda Accord coupe from Paul, a long-time Jalop reader. Paul snagged them — where else — Delaware, Ohio?! Seriously — he snagged them in Ohio. Who knew? Anyway, no word yet on which engines we'll be expecting the new two-door from the number two super best awesome automaker from the land of the rising sun to have under the bonnet, but if you're a fan of the Accord two-door, you'll at least enjoy the pretty pictures below. We're just wondering if we win a prize from Honda for collecting all three sets of spy shots.

Haha. I love the watermarks.
This new Accord is turning out to be a pretty handsome looking car. I'm not too keen on the C-pillar blind spot that everybody is slapping on cars nowadays, but maybe it's painted body cladding or something.
We've seen the outside enough; can we get a glimpse of the inside now?
I don't know if there's a prize involved, but I certainly take pleasure in forwarding these photos to my buddy that works at Honda's ad agency...this doesn't appear to be one of their vehicles, but it's hilarious to me when they get caught with their pants down...
And btw, wouldn't it make sense that these purdy shots were snagged in Ohio, seeing as that's where their North American HQ is?
I'm usually not a huge Honda fan, but that is a rather attractive car. I think the last Honda I enjoyed was the 96-98 Prelude, so hey, good for them.
Still wants me a Challenger though.
@Garebear: Not only that, but the Accord is made in Marysville, which is about 1/2 hour from Delaware, OH. So, uh, this was probably made in Ohio, so it's stomping around its home turf.
Oh the coupe is soooooo much better looking than the Hyundai… opps I mean Honda sedan…
The body lines and creases make the rear wheel look small and vestigial.
Me no likey.
Whats up with the hood by the grill? It looks open and I noticed the same thing on the red coupe pictures too.
How does this actually come to pass? You'd think if they wanted to keep the car a secret they'd find something else to run to Radioshack/The Hallmark Store/Blockbuster in.
"Honey, where are the keys to my Torino?"
"I don't know dear"
"Oh, well...I guess I'll just take the pre-production secret Accord"
...?
damn sexy!
@Seth L: its front-wheel drive... the rear wheels ARE vestigial. threy just keep the car's ass from bumping the ground.
Much much much much MUCH better looking than the sedan. Almost a fastback look to it. If I have to think of any flaw at all it probably looks a bit too much like a Nissan, and that's probably only a flaw if you're a Honda guy concerned about branding.
At least they cut little holes in the quarter panels. Anyone driven a Mazda3 sedan? An entire F250 with a utility worker's rig on the bed could and did fit in the space on the rear quarter where a window would be on the hatchback, coincidentally right in the mirror's blind spot. This made highway lane changes a special joy indeed.
Yeah, way better looking than the 4 slice toaster...er 4 door sedan. Strange that it should be but it is. Not gonna run out and buy one but not a bad looking car.
it's not that i don't like it, but to me, the front looks too much like a VW and the back looks too much like a solara.
@Mad_Science: I'm actually surprised they kept any of the camo on the car. Being a Honda, if they were to take all that off, 99% of the population would have absoultely no idea it wasn't a production car.
is it a volvo S40/60/80?
That location looks like Novi across the street from Twelve Oaks. Odd place to grab spy pics of a Honduh.
@Garebear, @dculberson: I know they've got factories in Ohio, but isn't American Honda's corporate HQ in Torrance, CA?
@snep: maybe there bad at parking?
yawn
I'm guessing that Honda USA is not experiencing budget cuts, thus being forced to conduct high performance testing at the Mall, ...but instead marketing is trying a different method to introduce new products?
Kinda transparent isn't it? (Well, 'cept for the sexy metallic-blue tape that is.)
Biggest sedan-coupe improvement evar.
Maybe it's just me, but this is one of the most awkward designs I've ever seen.
3-Series + G35 coupe + wacky chrome grill = Pretty darn nice
The manufacturer plate gives it away (Those of you outside the glorious Buckeye state wouldn't recognize that)
We see these all the time in our parts ( the factory is about 1/2 hour from my office). The R&D Department does most of their work nearby as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it was built locally too, since we have seen about a dozen of these ( copue and 4 door) running around for about 3 weeks.
HTH
... and now we see a fine example of the species Automobilus Accordanium in its natural environment. With no known natural enemies, this animal breeds faster than Peter Cottontail on a good day. Whole herds of them can be found sunning themselves in amost any large asphalt field in North America. They are harmless and easily domesticated, making a terrific -- if characterless -- family pet.
