As Pistonheads is reporting, a bid for MG by sports-car maker TVR has been confirmed — in a sense. It appears the bid is not a takeover attempt by TVR, but a personal bid by TVR owner, Russian entrepreneur Nicolai Smolensky. Still, regardless of prospective ownership title, the speculation talk is focused on whether TVR would move to MG's modern Longbridge plant from its aging Blackpool home (likely), whether MG would remain a separate entity (likely) and whether TVR would return to using MGB engines in its sports cars (not likely), or MG's use of TVR engines (likely).
