What to do when you get rear-ended: remain calm and exchange information. What not to do:

What we have here is a minor collision between a cargo truck and a pickup truck. CCTV footage uploaded to the Greater Manchester Police YouTube shows that everything was fine until the guy driving the pickup that got rear-ended started throwing punches.

He then got in his truck, reversed into the other truck like a maniac, twice, and then got out and attacked the other driver with a shovel before driving off.

While the police upload doesn’t offer any details, ITV News reports that police are still looking for the suspect:

PC John Cavanagh said: “This attack was unbelievable, and has been clearly captured on CCTV.

“Luckily neither of the men were seriously injured however they have been left terrified by the incident.

“The driver and passenger in the lorry were just trying to get on with their day’s work when they collided with the man in the pick-up truck.

“Accidents happen and they were attempting to deal with the situation in an appropriate manner. No one could have anticipated the level of violence they would then fall victim to.

“I am appealing for anyone who may recognise the driver of the pick-up truck to get in touch as soon as possible. It was broad daylight and the man can be clearly seen, someone must know who he is.”

What’s terrifying here is how calm the guy appeared to be. It’s not clear what set him off and got him to throw punches, slam his truck into another truck, attack the other driver with a shovel and then run off.

I wonder if this means the truck drivers will get out of paying for the initial crash?
